Down On The Farm

This is just a collection of thoughts and pictures from recent days. :)

We went to visit a friend who had just had a baby. I was able to love and snuggle a one day old wee one. Ahhhh... pure bliss. On the way to their house I once again saw this sight and it always makes me smile. These people have 3 bee hives right on their front porch. I guess they are not wanting visitors.

On Monday, the pup's eye got hurt. I was really worried about it, but it seems to be better now. She is my buddy.

My sweet husband brought me home a big bouquet of tulips on Friday. Those along with the daffodils from the yard just seem to SHOUT that Spring is here.

It has been fairly cold here, but the sun has been shining. I love sunshine.

Our little cabin in our woods has seen better days. It needs someone to fix it up and give it some tender loving care.

We have been grateful for our woodpile. Several mornings recently have been in the teens.

Yes, the chickens are still in my front yard. God really has a sense of humor and is trying to remind me that pride is not a good thing.

The daffodils have held up better than I thought with the cold temperatures. You can see I need to clean out the dead stuff from my flower beds. :)

I hope you have a great rest of the week!!!

Here is an opportunity for all of us to give thanks unto the Lord for a blessing in our lives. If you would like to take part great. If not that is OK too. If you would like to share your blessing, just leave it in the comments. If you want to use the picture above and list a blessing on your own site, then leave a URL to your site in the comments. There is no pressure here. I just know that I am incredibly blessed and I would like to share that and give thanks to Him who all blessing come from. This is a way that we can encourage one another. I know that I am often encouraged when someone shares a blessing with me. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

Wow, a whole week has gone by. It was a busy one and I am sorry that I have not blogged. :) Today, I am thankful for a good friend. She knows who she is and she is precious to me. She goes out of her way to show me that she thinks of me and that she loves me. She shares her life with me and helps me out when I need it. She offers her time and things and abilities to help me. So many times in life we sort of get lost in the shuffle of busy-ness, and it takes time, thought and action to show your loving and caring. She has a very busy life, but she does this for me. Thank you my sweet friend!! I love you!

What are YOU thankful for?

Today, I am thankful for all the signs of Spring. We have the possibility of snow on Wednesday and Friday of this week. That is OK though because Spring is here. It is all around. :)

It's here in the form of fat buds on the Bradford Pear tree.

The lilies pushing up through the sod everywhere.
The forsythia is getting itself ready to bloom.

There are crocus blooming all around.

The daffodils are starting to open. (Actually they have already opened now. This picture was from Saturday.)

Michael always brings me the first daffodil to bloom. This was from yesterday morning.

Today, I was able to pick a bouquet and still leave plenty blooming outside. :)

What are YOU thankful for?

The Back Way Home!!

We took the scenic route home again today. :) Actually we went another direction to be able to see a water fall we had heard about. These next pictures are of the waterfall.

This was a big hole at the base of the rock cliff. I thought of bears. :) Michael thought it would be a good place to go in a storm.

This was starting back up the trail to the top.
This is looking straight up at the cliff.

This is showing where the water goes once it has come over the falls.

This is the very bottom of the falls.

This is looking back down the trail to the falls. See the tree right up against the cliff. It must have come down this winter.

I found some really neat moss and ferns.

The moss was so pretty.

These next 2 are from the top of the falls looking down.

Here is a short video of the falls. I love to hear a waterfall.

We saw this on our way home as well. Everyone was out working on this beautiful sunshiney day.

Beauty Is All Around Us

Last weekend we had some errands to run and then had to deliver something to a friend. We took the scenic route since the day was so beautiful. These pictures don't even do it justice. This little area had little ponds of water from the recent rains. They were everywhere. The large rock formations covered in moss. It was beautiful.

The river was still a bit high here.

We saw two huge wild turkeys. They both had very red heads and huge beards. They ran as soon as the car stopped, so I could only get this picture of them.

I loved the view in these next 2 pictures. The sun was filtering down through the leaves and the needles on the cedar trees. The stream was bubbling and gurgling away (I love that sound) and it was so peaceful.

I am trying to be more appreciative of the beauty all around. I keep thinking of Japan and what has happened. It started out as a normal day and then their lives, homes and landscapes were forever changed.

Spring is Springing!!

There are signs of Spring all around. I finally caught a robin with my camera.

I found this wooly worm crawling across my porch.

You can see the changes in the daffodils daily. They are everywhere and the buds are getting ready to open.

The leaf buds on the lilac are swelling.

These to me, are the heralds of Spring. The crocus are blooming.
Be aware though that most of the Spring bulb plants are poisonous to your dog. This includes Crocus, Daffodils, Hyacinth, Lilies and Lily of the Valleys.

The Sheep Have Been Sheared

The sheep have been sheared for this year. We got the sheep into the barn the night before and we sorted out the ones who were being sheared. We kept them locked in one side of the barn over night. The others were free to come and go. Here is a picture of the ones not being sheared. After being sorted the night before, they were keeping their distance.

The Wonderful Neighbor children came over to watch. The oldest WN boy lent a helping hand. The WN girls were just watching. Love that smile!!

Here is the youngest WN boy finding a better place to watch.
Here come the sheep hoping for a peanut after their ordeal. Some are naked and some are not. :)

They look so different when they are shorn.

The littlest WN decided after watching a couple of sheep getting their hair cut that she would rather ponder the world outside the barn. :)
